..::My Parents Rule!::..

First and foremost, my parents rule because they decided to have a second kid. Can't thank them enough for that, and I must say I think it was one of the better decisions they ever made J

Now of course they could've stopped there. That whole birthing thing is pretty big - but no, not these parents.

My parents rule on so many levels it's going to be hard to actually articulate all the reasons, but I'll do my best.

My parents rule because they have shown me what it means to be a good person. They have shown me what it means to feel passionately about an issue and take action. They have set the example of always giving whatever you can to help others. They taught me this through their work with the Jacob Wetterling Foundation to help missing, abused, and exploited kids, SRCA to help youth with disabilities, and in the various other ways they have volunteered their time to help friends and family when they were in need. They have taught me what it means to have faith in someone, what it means to have unconditional love. They have shown me the impact of believing in a person despite bad choices made or frightening behavior in general. They have taught me to never give up on someone you love - to support them in as many ways as you can, but above all to not only show but also tell how much they mean to you.

My parents have supported me emotionally and financially. They have attended my sporting events from the time I could somersault, tolerated my identity experimentation, and encouraged me to challenge myself academically. Most important to me, they have always made it abundantly clear that no matter what I did, I was a success.

Before I get all teary eyed (and we all know that, like my mom, I cry at the drop of a hat), I'm going to stop there. Anyone who hasn't had the honor and pleasure of knowing my parents - I hope this gives a glimpse of what incredible, amazing people they are.
