Journal - 2003

Holiday Greetings from the Libertyville Lichty's,

What a great year 2003 has been.good health, happiness, and some fun too.

Chad moved into his new home in Elgin , Illinois right after Christmas. Just in time to throw a New Year's Eve party. He's got his dog, Buddy, a roommate from Hawaii , Ryan, and a girlfriend of several years, Kelly, to keep him busy. Between his house, his boat, and snowboarding it's amazing that he finds time to work. Of course, he does and he even started his own business. NonstickMedia is a multi-media, web-hosting company.he does web design and helps to create re-designs plus sets up his clients with inexpensive hosting services. Please refer your friends and colleagues.his phone number is 847.204.9605.

Lauren graduated from the University of Illinois in May. She made the Dean's list and, much to our surprise, she was singled out during the graduation proceedings and asked to come to the podium. Once there she was given the first annual U of I Community Activist award. A significant honor considering the many worthy candidates! Of course, when I heard the word activist I thought she might have joined the SDS - Students for a Democratic Society. Shows how my mind works! Lauren is now attending the Michigan State University and is in a Ph.D. program in community psychology. She's attended three Big Ten schools and continues to miss IOWA ! Why you do 'dat Lauren?

Barb's life got a little bit hectic in February when her Mom came to live in Illinois permanently. We found a great nursing home in Highland Park and Mary Jane tolerates it. She's had two different roommates. She tells me the food is decent and the staff is nice. They do seem to give her great care. Barb visits her often and usually saves Saturday for a trip to the mall or museum with her Mom.

The hectic life got more so for Barb in March when Brett had his rotator cuff repaired.in the process the doctor removed part of his clavicle, whatever that is! Brett was pretty good dealing with the pain.he had to learn to do a lot of things with his left hand.good thing that all of our cars are automatics! By July Brett was back on the golf course and doing most anything he did before but with no pain. His doctor did a great job.of course could you expect any less from a guy named Christ!

Life goes on here in our empty house. Barb & Brett miss both kids but know they're off creating a brave new world for themselves. Barb & Brett spend some time together trying to figure out how they're going to spend their Social Security! We wish you and yours a joyous holiday season and a spectacular 2004! Let's pray for world peace!

Love to you all, and to all a good-night!
